Shoot Two ( Please view memory stick for footage)
Working with a younger model, Cecilia Saxton was quite different from my previous shoot. In some ways it was harder because the model couldn’t really answer some the questions I intended to answer and also liked new things that some of us have never heard of! Also, I had to do a number of retakes because the model kept laughing during it and the natural feel of the piece was not there. The model felt a bit uncomfortable but once we got started and did some initial takes, she became more confident. One thing I did notice through was that her hand kept going to her mouth which became a great distraction so in the end I gave her a drink to hold which kept her hands busy. I think this idea work well and will continue to use it in the future. In terms of the area I used, which was her own bedroom, gave the interview a more personal feel but I did not catch any personal items as the model did not wish me to. As a result, I used a plain wall in which the light it and produced this soft pattern owing to the position of the window. I think this is effective and highlights the model and her hair well. Also, the contrast between the light wall and dark appearance of the model make her more noticable. I think I would next time, have a different outfit on her as the definition in lost at the bottom of the frame but all in all I think this is a better shoot. It is more in focus, although it need to be slightly sharper and the lighting is controlled better. Moreover, the framing is better and of a documentary style. I put more thought into this shoot and it is shown in the outcome. I think I would work with another model for the next shoot and also I must consider other shots when the model mentions something so that a variety of footage can be seen on the overall film. To conclude this shoot, it has been more of a success that the first due to more careful planning. However, there are still some things I want to work on as a director producer of this documentary.
